Statement from the President of the CFNU on the Passing of Jack Layton
The Canadian Federation of Nurses Unions mourns the passing of Jack Layton, sharing our sadness with Canadians from across the country.
Layton represented a hopeful vision of Canada and worked tirelessly to make it come true. His belief that we can be motivated by hope rather than by fear, and by what we can do rather than what we cannot, inspired us. Those of us who had the good fortune to have worked with him have been humbled by his energy and dedication.
Jack Layton was a passionate advocate of our public healthcare system, a fine example of Canadian leadership.
On behalf of nurses from across the country I offer our condolences to his family and many friends.
