MEDIA RELEASE Fireworks and Celebration at the Forks Mark 30th Anniversary of the Founding of the Canadian Federation of Nurses Unions in Winnipeg WINNIPEG, MANITOBA--(Marketwire - June 14, 2011) - The Canadian Federation of Nurses Unions (CFNU) has returned to Winnipeg, where it was founded 30 years ago, celebrating its past and future with a street bazaar complete with stilt walkers, jugglers, magicians, and fire eaters. Eight hundred nurses from across Canada will celebrate and dance under tents. The event, starting at 6 pm on Tuesday June 14 at the Forks, will have bands, including the Winnipeg Police Pipe Band. Other conference highlights: * Greeting from the Manitoba Premier, Greg Selinger, and the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC) President, Ken Georgetti, on Thursday morning * Address by the CFNU President, Linda Silas, on Thursday morning * Manitoba Minister of Health, Theresa Oswald, speaks on Friday morning * Nursing leaders from Australia and Ireland speak on Wednesday morning The Convention is being held at the Winnipeg Convention Centre all week.
